What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of exercise that uncovers your best body. The Method was developed in the 1920’s-1960’s by Joseph Pilates. The exercises strip away layers of tension and bulk by using alignment, breath, and mindfulness. What’s left behind is your true body: long, lean, supple muscle. You will learn how to work from the center out. It should make you sweat, use muscles you didn't know you had, and feel good.
Will Pilates work for me?
Pilates is for everybody. You need to be committed to The Method and mentally ready. It meets you where you are and challenges you safely. You’ll work your entire body incredibly hard and be extremely challenged. No matter what shape you are in you will feel and see results immediately.
How to choose an Instructor?
Make sure they have a fully equipped studio. The reformer is one of MANY apparatus and your session should have you working on all of them. After your first session you should already feel a shift in your body. Your instructor should be teaching YOU a series and an order so that you are learning the exercises. If someone is narrating your workout, it’s not authentic Pilates.
